Inspired by a story of a 16 year old girl from Groupe Scolaire Karwasa in Burera district in Northern province of Rwanda who used to miss classes due to lack of menstrual sanitary pads, and taking into consideration that Poor menstrual hygiene can lead to many issues, such as fungal or bacterial infections of the reproductive tract and the urinary tract. This hardly pushed us to think on how we can collect 1200 sanitary pads to secure a health menstruation for 100 girls within a period of 12 months in Burera district. PAD A GIRL INITIATIVE is an online campaign aimed at finding 1,200 menstrual sanitary pads for 100 young adolescent girls living in poor and disadvantaged situations in the Burera district of the Northern Province of Rwanda. Each one will be given 12 menstrual sanitary pads that will help in her menstruation for a period of 12 months (a year). Among the beneficiaries, we attach great importance to adolescent girls with disabilities.
